His wife will be pleased to know that. Tony when we left off, we were talking a little bit about the way the front page of Google works these days. And we wanted to touch on the map pack, because that has changed quite significantly. And the interesting thing is, I would say it’s probably already changed in the last six or seven months. That’s a relatively recent change. And if you weren’t looking out for it, I suppose you may have missed it completely.

Yeah, it’s instructive to look at the history of that particular section. It used to be Google Maps, predominantly. And and it’s changed over the years, like you said, and now it’s Google My Business. But people still refer to it as maps and what have you, because that’s predominantly what it is. That’s called Google My Business

That’s all right. Yeah. So that section, yet it has changed and what they do have ads in there now. But for a local business, that’s a really important section that you get to know should get to know really, really well. You can optimize, I’m going to say you can optimize the heck out of it. And you can get yourself on the front page of Google

Okay, so what you need to do, the first thing you need to do is make sure that you actually have a listing. So the way you do that is look up your business name and see if you actually show up. Now, Paul, do you have a Google My Business listing? No.

Yes, that was a set up

that was the that was the expected answer. Because he knew the answer to that question.

I just turned I just turned very, very white.

I was just looking at Tony’s stuff. So there we go.

But please leave that open the one that on the mobile in front of you. Yeah. So if you have a look, you’ll see I’ve got a few testimonials. Yeah. So once you’ve got your listing, make sure the name and address is correct is called Google nap name and place. Yeah. They’ll send you a postcard to that address. And you need the PIN code from the postcard. They deliberately do that to confirm the physical address. Okay. Yeah. So it’s a non digital way for Google to do business. You think that’s a bit strange, but they do that deliberately? Yeah. Okay. So then you go through and add information about the business images, opening hours, quite important as well. Phone number address, put in as much information as you can. And then the next thing is you need to put in posts. I mean, posts. Okay. So once you’ve got your listing, you can put in and pause, look up some I got some posts in, there’s an opportunity within Google My Business with your listing to add posts, and allows you to do that.

Right? Google likes all of that. So you put in the information, you can optimize the heck out of it. And for a local business in the local area, that’s gold. Wow.

Mia
Yeah. And it’s so true, because it doesn’t take much to dominate the local businesses to dominate your local area, right? It just takes a little bit of planning and for such go, you know what I want to dominate. And if you someone like a plumber, or electrician, or a painter, who spread and, you know, with all due respect for our tradies then do spread themselves all over Sydney, and Sydney is not the smallest little city in the world. And I always wonder, why aren’t you dominating your local market, dominate your local market, your local market, nail the market, and then just start going at 25 kilometer 50 kilometers?

Yeah, it just like I was saying before that plumbers, Sydney’s an obsession with plumbers, and they’ll spend $30 on that keyword, as opposed to $3 on something a little bit more local,

is a good objective. And if you’re in

human relations or people solutions, then in a particular geographical area, then that would be helpful for you, I presume.

So what you’re saying is to work on the Google My Business, apply for you complete a form for Google My Business, I send you out a postcard to confirm that you’re actually there into the pin number. Once you get the pin number, you just populate as much information as you possibly can within that space. And then you start putting the posts in and the posts look like there could very well be almost like blog posts. Is that exactly right. So that’s coming from you. Is that pulled in from your website?

Now are you literally posted those to the Google, Google? Google My Business? But it is a map section? people probably know it is that but and if you already have it claimed, then spend time updating it

Okay, beautiful. One question. Now. Sorry. And sorry to interrupt you quickly. And then we’ll get back to your question and then to do those keyword searches in order to Holly optimize what your you know, what you want those headings to be what you want content to be?

Yeah, okay, perfect. So my question in terms of like, obviously, Google have to verify there’s a link physical they may lol I noticed your your address in here is looks like it’s a service office. And is that something that’s important in terms of a better idea?

Mia
Because I didn’t think that Tony was based in the city. And I saw that address and I’m thinking to myself now is that a I didn’t even think service office I thought maybe it was like a post net or something. But when I looked at the address, how did you do that we need to know?

Tony skinner
Well, I did actually get the service office and I did do it deliberately was a strategy. There’s a reason why for SEO specialist on appearing all over Sydney.

Yeah, and that’s because you took the middle of Sydney.

You see, this is why you need to get it listen as if you are looking for a digital strategist you need a sneaky sneaky one.
